The Blue Knot Studio
Our Process
The process of weaving hand made rugs is very intricate and meticulous. The materials that go inside weaving a rug are as important as its design and workmanship. We aim to source the best quality sustainable & natural materials such as BCI cotton, RWS certified wool, recycled polyester, jute, bamboo silk etc. Our design studio houses talented designers that are adept at making designs inspired from art forms, paintings, apparel industry among other muses. Once the design is finalized, the creative team designs on the color palette and the technique. The yarn is then dyed using either natural or synthetic dyed or a mixture of both. Then comes the weaving process, where the rugs are either hand knotted, hand tufted or flat woven. Post this, the rugs are washed to ensure that the natural sheen comes out through the yarns that are used. Finally comes the finishing process where the rugs are stretched, edge binding is done and rug is evened out through the help of a high low carving process. Finally, we present the rug beautifully in the showroom which is a storehouse of more than 12000 designs.

“As society sees what women can do, as women see what women can do, there will be more women out there doing things, and we’ll all be better off for it.”

Craft and sustainability
An integrated home-solution company with products including soft furnishings like carpets, cushions, table linen as well as wall art, The Blue Knot has a firm focus on sustainability as well as diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI). We consciously source yarns such as BCI cotton, 100% recycled polyester made from plastic bottles, RWS wool and use sustainable packaging that replaces the use of plastic with a cloth bag. DEI is a pertinent part of our DNA given that 20% of our textile department is run by female workers and 100% of the yarn opening is performed by female workers.
Social Impact
The blue knot is majorly involved in societal upliftment projects such as tree plantation schemes wherein we plant 5000 saplings of diverse species annually with the aid of the ministry of forest and environment. Additionally, we have adopted 15 government schools around our facilities to improve the basic standard and have partnered with good weave to improve attendance of kids. We are proud to announce our partnership with an organization called ‘Project Baala’ to provide our female employees access to sustainable and affordable menstrual hygiene solutions free of cost.
